Accomplishments
In the past 10 years in the House of Representatives, ABS Partylist (Arts Business and Science Professionals) helped through different government agencies:
-
around 1,500 students accessed the Student Financial Assistance Programs (STUFAPs);
-
more or less 10,000 indigent families accessed social services from Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD);
-
about 3,000 patients were referred to the Department of Health (DOH) under the Medical Assistance Program;
-
initiated more or less 30 livelihood projects thru Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE); and
-
more than 900 beneficiaries trained under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Programs.
Above all, ABS Partylist is the instigator of the case Banat v. COMELEC. The Supreme Court revisited the Partylist Law interpretation wherein the said court granted that the 20% of the House of Representatives seats be allocated to Partylist Representatives or from 16 Representatives to 59 Representatives to date.
